Jeremiah 33
Verse of the Week: V3 “Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.”
1. God Never Fails (V1-8)
V3 “Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.”
The hardest thing for Christians to accept from God is when we have done our best and obeyed God yet bad things happen to us! Prophet Jeremiah had done his best and had obeyed God yet he ended up in prison and waiting to be executed. He must have asked God, “Why, why, why?” Let us remember that God shall never fail us and even though we go through crises and not fully understand them, we still trust God to the end!
V6 “Behold, I will bring it health and cure, and I will cure them, and will reveal unto them the abundance of peace and truth.”
2. God Gives Joy (V9-14)
V9 “And it shall be to me a name of joy, a praise and an honour before all the nations of the earth, which shall hear all the good that I do unto them: and they shall fear and tremble for all the goodness and for all the prosperity that I procure unto it.”
God never fails Israel, His chosen nation, yet time and again, Israel failed God. In spite of the failures, God continues to show His goodness and mercy to Israel and give them many opportunities to repent of their sins and return to Him so that one day He can restore their joy in Him.
V11 “… for the LORD is good; for His mercy endureth for ever: and of them that shall bring the sacrifice of praise into the house of the LORD. For I will cause to return the captivity of the land, as at the first, saith the LORD.”
3. God Fulfills Promises (V15-26)
V15 “In those days, and at that time, will I cause the Branch of righteousness to grow up unto David; and He shall execute judgment and righteousness in the land.”
God fulfilled His promise when He sent His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for our sins, that whosoever believes in Christ shall have eternal life through His righteousness. Trust God as He shall keep His promises now and forever!
Romans 5:21 “That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Prayer of the Week
Dearest God, help me to trust You even when I cannot fully understand my crises.
