Galatians 4: Is God Your Abba?
Verse of the Day: (V6) “And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.”
1. Abba (V1-13)
V6 “And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.”
Apostle Paul encouraged the Galatians that when they received Christ in their hearts as their Saviour, they were no longer servants to sins, but the sons and heirs of God. Indeed, as we receive Christ as our Saviour, we shall call God, Abba or Father, through Christ who redeems us from our sins, and one day He shall deliver us from fiery hell and transport us to glorious heaven. Let us count it the greatest privilege and highest honour to be called the sons and heirs of God as we call upon God anytime, and for all our needs.
V7 “Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.”
2. Angel (V14-21)
V14 “And my temptation which was in my flesh ye despised not, nor rejected; but received me as an angel of God, even as Christ Jesus.”
Paul expressed his gratitude to the Galatians as they received him as the angel or messenger of God, and were even willing to pluck out their eyes to give to him because his eyes were failing him. However, there were some who were deceived by the false teachers, and opposed and rejected Paul even though he was preaching God’s holy Word.
V15 “Where is then the blessedness ye spake of? for I bear you record, that, if it had been possible, ye would have plucked out your own eyes, and have given them to me.”
3. Abraham (V22-31)
V22 “For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman.”
Paul reminded the Galatians that those who believed by faith in Christ were the sons of Abraham’s wife, Sara, the freewoman, while those who rejected Christ were the illegitimate sons of Abraham’s maid, Hagar, the bondmaid. Let us therefore be the sons and heirs of God by believing and receiving Christ as our personal Saviour and Lord.
V30 “Nevertheless what saith the scripture? Cast out the bondwoman and her son: for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman.”

Dearest God, thank You that You are my Abba, Father, and I am your son and heir!
