Leviticus 19 & 20: Will You Be Holy?
Verse of the Day: (19:2) Speak unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, and say unto them, Ye shall be holy: for I the LORD your God am holy.

1. Holy (19:1-37)
Therefore shall ye observe all my statutes, and all my judgments, and do them: I am the LORD. (19:37)

God through Moses gave Israel His commandments as to how they must live holy lives before His holiness. If there is only one word to describe God, it is His holiness. This is the reason why God creates fiery hell not because He desires man to be cast into it, but because of His holiness. The only way for man to be holy, and to be with God on earth and one day in heaven, is to believe that He sent His Son, Jesus, to die for the sins of the whole world, and that whoever believes in Jesus shall never perish but have everlasting life with Him in heaven. Indeed, God’s commandments were similar to the Ten Commandments He had given earlier to Israel. (Exodus 20:1-17) In summary, God’s commands required Israel to believe that He is the only true God, and that man must honour their parents, keep the sabbaths and be contented with life. Today, these laws are still applicable, and we must obey them, as God desires us to be holy before His holiness.

2. Hide (20:1-21)
And if the people of the land do any ways hide their eyes from the man, when he giveth of his seed unto Molech, and kill him not: (20:4)

If there is one thing that God hates most, it must be dishonesty. God knows everything and He sees everything, and there is nothing that He does not know or see, and let us not hide anything from Him. God warned Israel that whoever hid the sins of the man who sacrificed his child to Molech (one of the idols) and not punished him with death as He had commanded Israel, shall be guilty himself and be punished with death. (Galatians 6:7)

3. Honey (20:22-27)
But I have said unto you, Ye shall inherit their land, and I will give it unto you to possess it, a land that floweth with milk and honey: I am the LORD your God, which have separated you from other people. (20:24)

God knows those who believe in Him, and He shall richly bless them with milk and honey or the richest of His blessings. During Moses’ time or the Old Testament era, God’s milk and honey was literally milk and honey in the land of Canaan where they had plenty of milk from the cattle, and honey from the bees. Today or the New Testament era, after Jesus Christ came and died for the sins of the whole world, God’s milk and honey to those who truly believe and trust in Him is the abundant and everlasting life with Him. Indeed, with God we have everything, and without God, we have nothing! (John 10:10)

Prayer of the Day:
Dearest God, please help me to be holy as You are holy.
