Leviticus 21 & 22: Are You Sanctified?
Verse of the Day: (21:8) Thou shalt sanctify him therefore; for he offereth the bread of thy God: he shall be holy unto thee: for I the LORD, which sanctify you, am holy.
1. Sanctify (21:1-24)
Neither shall he profane his seed among his people: for I the LORD do sanctify him. (21:15)
Throughout the Bible, holiness of God’s people is His utmost concern. Without holiness, no one can be with God forever because He is holy, and therefore He sent His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to die for the sins of the whole world. Whoever believes in Christ shall never perish in fiery hell, but shall be sanctified before Him, and one day be with Him in heaven forever. During the Old Testament era, God’s desire for His priests, and especially His high priest, including their families, who represented Him in their services at His holy sanctuary, was that they be examples of holiness to Israel and the rest of the world. God through Moses gave laws and ordinances to His high priest and priests as to how they must sanctify themselves and be holy in everything; from not touching the dead, to their marriage of a virgin, otherwise they shall be severely punished. Today, after Christ came and died for our sins, Christians are now God’s priests, and we must also be saved and sanctified to serve Christ, and be an example of His holiness. (1 Peter 2:9-10)
2. Separate (22:1-3)
Speak unto Aaron and to his sons, that they separate themselves from the holy things of the children of Israel, and that they profane not my holy name in those things which they hallow unto me: I am the LORD. (22:2)
Not only the high priest and the priests must be sanctified, even the things of God must be sanctified and separated from the profane ones. This is an important lesson for us as God can never be with the devil, or Light be with darkness. Let us therefore separate ourselves from sinful activities, and be serving God in His church. (2 Corinthians 6:16-18)
3. Soul (22:4-33)
The soul which hath touched any such shall be unclean until even, and shall not eat of the holy things, unless he wash his flesh with water. (22:6)
There are two things that last forever – God’s Word and man’s soul. (1 Peter 1:25, Luke 16:19-31) Since the beginning of time when God created Adam and Eve, and the time of Moses, and even today, God’s desire is that all souls be saved by the redemption of His only begotten Son, because He already knew that Adam and Eve shall sin against Him. God’s desire is that our souls be with Him in heaven after our death, if we believe in Him, otherwise, He shall blot our names in His book of life, and condemn us to hell because of our sins. Let us therefore believe in Jesus Christ, and be sanctified and holy, as He is holy.
Prayer of the Day:
Dearest God, please sanctify and purify me, as I repent my sins before Your holiness.
